President and CEO of Terracon
In 2019, Gayle Packer was named president and chief executive officer of Terracon Consultants, Inc., an employee-owned engineering consulting firm with more than 4,500 employees nationwide. A Buckeye from Ohio, Gayle moved to Kansas City 20 years ago to work at a law firm and then joined Terracon where she been for the past 15 years.
Since joining Terracon, Gayle has served in several roles including executive vice president and chief administrative officer. She has successfully coordinated the acquisition of more than 50 companies, contributing to Terracon’s rise to number 24 on Engineering News-Record’s Top 500 Design Firms list. She also serves as a member of Terracon’s board of directors and executive committees. She is active in numerous organizations in the Kansas City community, including serving on the boards of multiple civic organizations.
Gayle attributes her upbringing on a small farm and orchard with family nearby as being influential to her life, instilling values like hard work, treating people fairly, always doing your best, and enjoying the little things in life every day, particularly valuing family and friends.
Today, she leads with a focus on the employee-owners of Terracon who are giving their best and focused on doing their jobs safely, and taking safety home to their families. Gayle says, “This commitment to safety is a part of everything I do, and has changed my philosophy on how I approach safety in all aspects of my life. Being part of Terracon allows me to bring my best self to my work every day.”
